For eighty years, our family has blended matcha in the foothills of Mount Fuji. These days, there are many products on the market that are labeled as matcha but are actually counterfeit. With this in mind, we launched our Taste Guarantee Service so that more people can enjoy truly delicious matcha.

Matcha Singles & Trial Set

Individual matcha products and trial sets are eligible for a full refund. Even if you purchase them along with other items, all matcha products included in your order are eligible for a refund.

One-Pack Refund

Monthly Sets (4-Packs)

To prevent resale or misuse, refunds for monthly sets will be issued based on the price of a single pack included in the set. This ensures that the guarantee is truly effective for customers who wish to try the product before committing to a long-term purchase.

Exchange or Refund

Sweets & Other Non-Matcha Items

Taste preference refunds apply only to matcha products. However, if any non-matcha item arrives damaged or defective, we will replace it or refund the full product price.

Two important notes on multi-item orders

Buying multiple matcha products in one order: every eligible matcha item in your order is fully refundable — there is no cap on how many you can request, as long as each is genuinely unsatisfying.

Shipping is not refundable: the guarantee covers the matcha product price only. Shipping charges, duties, and taxes are not refunded, as these are paid to carriers and customs authorities.

Eligibility

First-time customers

The guarantee is available once per customer, household, and shipping address. It applies to your very first order with Fuji Asahien.

10 days from delivery

Requests must be submitted within 10 days of your order's delivery date(Arrival date). We use the carrier's confirmed delivery date as the start.

No return

There is no need to return opened matcha.

— 04 —

A short note required

Tell us briefly what didn't suit your taste — too bitter, too grassy, too mild, didn't pair with milk, etc. Your feedback helps us refine our blends.

Product cost only

Refunds cover the matcha product amount as described in the coverage section above. Shipping fees, duties, and taxes, are not refundable.

Good-faith use

The guarantee is for genuine taste mismatch. Repeated claims, resold products, or signs of misuse may make an application ineligible at our discretion.

Common questions

Why is the Monthly Set refunded only at one-pack price?

Monthly Sets contain four packs designed for ongoing daily use. To keep our guarantee sustainable and to prevent abuse such as resale, the Monthly Set is refunded at the price of one pack from that set — enough to make trying it risk-free, while protecting the integrity of the program for genuine customers.

If you'd like to try a flavor with no compromise on refund coverage, the Trial Set and any single pack are covered by full refund.

Do I need to return the matcha I didn't enjoy?

No — please keep it. Matcha is a delicate, food-grade product, and international return shipping isn't practical. You're welcome to share it with a friend, use it in baking, or simply set it aside. We trust you.

I bought multiple matcha products — are they all refundable?

Yes. If you ordered several different matcha products and none of them suited your taste, every eligible matcha item is refundable. The Monthly Set is the only exception — it is refunded at one-pack price regardless of how many sets you purchased.

For example, an order with a Single Pack and the Trial Set would be refunded for both items in full.

Are shipping fees included in the refund?

No. The guarantee covers the matcha product price only. Shipping charges, import duties, and taxes are paid to carriers and customs authorities, and are not refunded by us. This is standard practice for international food shipments.

What about sweets and other non-matcha products?

The taste-based refund applies only to matcha products. Sweets, accessories, tools, and other non-matcha items are not covered by the taste guarantee.

However, if any non-matcha item arrives damaged, defective, or with missing components, we will gladly replace it or refund the full product price. Please contact us with photos of the issue within 10 days of delivery.

How long does the refund take?

Once your request is approved, the refund is issued to your original payment method within 5 business days. Depending on your card issuer or bank, it may take an additional 3–10 business days to appear on your statement.

Can I use the guarantee on a repeat order?

The Taste Guarantee is reserved for first-time customers. If you've ordered from us before, you've already shown us that our matcha suits you — and we're grateful. For returning customers, please reach out to support@fuji-asahien.jp for any quality or order-specific concerns. We handle these case by case.

What counts as "taste mismatch"?

Anything genuine. Too bitter, too grassy, not vegetal enough, not what you expected from photographs, doesn't pair with how you drink it — all valid. We don't quiz you or require a specific reason. A brief honest note is enough. Your feedback helps us refine our blends, descriptions, and recommendations over time.

Why offer this guarantee at all?

Because we believe in our matcha enough to put our money behind it. Our family has blended tea in Shimada City for four generations, and we'd rather invest in your honest first impression than spend the same money on flashy advertising. If our matcha doesn't earn its place in your daily ritual, we'd rather know — and refund you — than have you feel let down in silence.
